Life has been heavy lately and recently I was especially saddened to hear about the unexpected sudden passing of Persephone, the daughter of my friend and fellow quilter Laura Hartrich http://www.laurahartrich.com. My love language is making and soon after hearing the news I started making abstract hex flowers with Persephone on my mind. With Laura’s Permission, I wanted to share a tutorial for anyone who may want to make their own flowers in memory of Persephone or anyone who left us too soon.
I made flowers in many different sizes and I can imagine them coming together in a quilt, appliquéd on a jeans jacket or even sewn together to make a necklace, something Laura has done herself. If you do decide to make them, please use the hashtag on IG #flowersforpersephone so we can all see your work
A huge thank you all who have already reached out pledging to make the blocks on their own or with their Quilt Guilds and to Lindsey of Pen and Paper Patterns who spontaneously offered and made a pdf with instructions and diagrams within an hour of me posting the tutorial on IG. If you aren’t already familiar with Lindsey’s quilt patterns, you are missing out. Check out her patterns here: https://penandpaperpatterns.com
